She approved the matters emanating from the talks on May 25. These comprised, inter alia, the following summary and recommendations by the Speaker's Chief of Administration and Chief Advisor to the Speaker, Adv Cetwayo, as communicated to the Speaker per memo (Abstract quoted verbatim):
In a nutshell they would like government to establishment of a forum made up of people with decision-making authority in government and their representatives to discuss following:
• Their claim for self determination.
• The possibility of government funding their meeting taking place in December to institutionalize themselves.
• The funding request is made in terms of Section 235 of the Constitution.
RECOMMENDATIONS
• The Presiding Officers consider the issue.
• Presiding Officers also refer it to Justice and Constitutional Development, Safety and Security and Land affairs Portfolio Committees as well as the Constitutional Review Committee.
7. The above recommendations hold far-reaching consequences for the future of the Boerevolk. Probably during the next week, The Volk Secretary, Mr Johann Pienaar, will start discussions with the parliamentary officials concerned on the procedure and instigation of this forum, as well as on the financing for and of the Boerevolk, As soon as this information is available, it will be communicated by means of e-mail..
